Amy Lichtenstein, L.Ac. received her Master of Science Degree in Acupuncture from Tri-State College of Acupuncture, one of the oldest acupuncture colleges in the United States. While at Tri-State she studied with some of the most experienced practitioners in the country and learned three distinct styles of acupuncture -- Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture Physical Medicine and Kiiko Matsumoto Style Japanese Acupuncture. Amy draws upon all of these styles to effectively evaluate and treat her patients. Amy also had the opportunity to study at the Beijing Traditional Medicine Training Center in Beijing, People’s Republic of China.
Amy has had a life-long fascination with science and the workings of the human body. She was introduced to acupuncture almost twenty years ago and, through the years, she has turned to acupuncture to address her health care concerns and to support her overall health and well-being. These experiences inspired Amy to begin studying Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AOM) and eventually led her to return to school and become a full-time practitioner. Her personal experiences and professional training have reinforced her belief in the importance of a holistic approach to healing and health care. Her appreciation for the system of medicine that AOM represents continues to grow.
Amy began her career in health care as an Occupational Therapist (OT). She received her Master’s of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from New York University and has worked in rehabilitation departments, in both inpatient and outpatient care, and in mental health settings. Amy went on to specialize in pediatric OT and has treated children with a variety of diagnoses and developmental delays. These experiences have allowed Amy to develop both her clinical skills and a deep sense of compassion and empathy for her patients. The amazing power of the human spirit to heal continues to inspire her.
Amy is nationally certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and is a licensed practitioner in the state of New York.
